Soothing Throat Relief

Well, this hasn’t been the greatest of weeks for me. In addition to some personal things going on, I have felt just crummy all week. Low energy, headache, extremely sore throat, and congested cough. I have tried some different things and nothing really has seemed to help, I’ve decided that whatever it is just needs to run it’s course. I don’t feel terrible enough to justify a trip to the doctor, nevertheless, I’ve just felt, well, crummy!

The sore throat has been the worst of it all. It has felt like razors in my throat all week and the coughing has only made it worse. I have seen lots of information and posts about how wonderful a warm “tea” with honey, lemon, and ground cinnamon is for a sore throat. So, I decided to give it a whirl. Ick! The ground cinnamon didn’t dissolve and floated around the tea, then sinking to the bottom. I could hardly choke it down. What I did drink, did make my throat feel a little better. So, I decided to give the concoction a try with my essential oils. Soothing Throat Relief

Voila! It worked! Within minutes my throat seriously felt so much better. While I still felt crummy, the worst part of the crumminess had been soothed in a matter of minutes! I was skeptical how long the relief would last with all of the coughing I have been doing. Much to my surprise, in spite of the coughing, my throat was still irritated, but hours later felt 100 times better than it had. What’s even better, the tea tasted delicious!

Here’s the recipe for what worked to soothe my sore throat:

  • 10 oz. warm water
  • 1 Tbsp. honey
  • 6 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 1-2 drops Cinnamon Bark essential oil (I say 1-2 because this is a “hot” oil and is very strong tasting, so use to your liking, I happen to really like the flavor of the oil)

Stir the ingredients, and enjoy the yumminess in your favorite mug!

You should only ingest 100% pure therapeutic grade essential oils, such as Young Living. I only use and recommend Young Living Essential Oils for my family!

I hope this tea works as well for you as it did for me!Closing
