Never Too Old To Need Your Mom

I seem to be on a mom theme this week! Well, momma’s are kind of an important part of our life, no matter our age. Even in my late 30’s there are so many times when I just need my mom. Mom’s give birth to us, care for us when we are young, teach us life lessons, support us in our endeavors, and when we have our own children they are there to teach us the ropes.

My mom and dad.
My mom and dad.

I just have to say that I have the best momma in the world. I know, you think yours is the best, but mine takes the cake. Today I have to send a shout out to her, as yesterday she came through, just like she always does. No matter what life throws my way, I know, without a doubt, that I can always count on my mom to be there for me, especially when I need it the most. Yesterday was no different.

In the midst of a chaotic week in which I am trying to keep up with all of the normal daily tasks, I am also trying to get our house ready to put on the market. (Yeah, we are nuts after spending over a year pretty much solid remodeling our current home, and only being in it for a few years. But our family has grown, and our desires for the type of house and location have changed. So, off to a new adventure. And added stress and chaos.) And of course, of all weeks, when my 14-month-old hasn’t been sick a single time this winter, he came down with something requiring much more of my motherly duties than normal. And I lost an entire day of being able to accomplish anything to prepare the house for listing. Insert my mom. Yesterday she came up to help with Brett, and help me do some deep cleaning on the house. And let me tell you, if anyone knows how to clean, my mom does. She was a cleaning Nazi when I was growing up. Part of my chores were to clean. And it had to be done a very particular way, or the chore wasn’t considered complete. Vacuuming meant going over each strip of carpet 7 times. The woman has some mad cleaning skills. Which is fantastic when it comes to preparing a house for sale.

This isn’t the first time she has come to the cleaning rescue. There have been times when I have listed a house that she has come to help, and during a massive remodel as well.┬áNot to mention that every time she comes to help with Brett, she does some amount of cleaning or laundry to help out. Of course I’m sure part of it is due to the fact that we are just alike and neither one of us can ever sit still. But it is so nice to have someone help with some of the chores that keep me so busy constantly.

And it’s not just cleaning. My mom has always been there for me, whether it was fixing me my favorite meal because I was sick, caring for me because I was sick (yes, even as an adult!), helping out with the kids, helping around the house, or just being there to listen or for a shoulder to cry on. I always know that I can count on my mom, no matter what the situation, no matter how old I am. You are never too old to need your mom in some way. And mine takes the cake. Thanks Mom for always being there when I need you the most.
