Well, if your toddlers are anything like mine, they want everything that they can’t have. Electrical cords, your cell phone, the laptop, the iPad, remote controls… No amount of pretend objects can ever draw them away from the “real” thing. We even tried taking batteries out of a real remote so that Brett could play with it. Nope. Somehow the little toot knows that isn’t the one that really works! And boy oh boy can this 13-month-old throw a fit when he doesn’t get his way. I dread what the terrible two’s will bring our way with this “spirited” child.
Many times we catch Brett with the remote in hand, changing channels, and often hitting the record button setting something to tape. Usually I catch him and grab the remote, stop the recording and delete it. So last night my husband and I sat on the couch to watch some TV after the little monster was in bed. My husband began scrolling through the DVR recordings to play something back. Then he said “Did you record Cheech and Chong’s Animated Movie?!” Um, no! We both started laughing and came to the conclusion that Brett must have somehow set the movie to record, neither one of us catching it, and the entire movie recorded. I certainly hope his choice of movies isn’t a sign of what we have in store for the future! But if he turns out anything like his dad, I will definitely have my hands full!
